Carbohydrate Analysis by HPAEC‑PAD, ICS‑6000
RISE PFI is in the process of installing and commissioning our ICS-6000 for carbohydrate analysis. This instrument will be a valuable addition to our analytical instrumentation and will strengthen our capabilities for advanced carbohydrate analyses such as monosaccharides, disaccharides, and oligosaccharides. The instrument is part of the NORCELlab research infrastructure (The Norwegian Cellulose Laboratory), and the method combines high sensitivity with precise separation, enabling accurate quantification of individual components—even in complex samples—without the need for derivatization.
- ICS‑6000 = Ion Chromatography System 6000
- HPAEC = High‑Performance Anion‑Exchange Chromatography
- PAD = Pulsed Amperometric Detection
What we can analyze
- Monosaccharides (e.g. glucose, xylose, arabinose)
- Oligosaccharides
- Uronic acids
We will also gradually develop methods for amino acid analysis.
Typical applications
- Characterization of biomass and wood materials
- Analysis of hydrolysis processes
- Enzyme studies and process optimization
- Quality control in the bioindustry and food industry
Why choose HPAEC‑PAD with us?
- Strong scientific expertise in cellulose, lignocellulose, and cellulose‑based products
- High‑resolution chromatographic separation
- Very high sensitivity and precision
- Suitable for complex samples
- No requirement for UV‑active compounds
We support the entire analytical process—from sample handling and method selection to data interpretation—and tailor solutions to meet your specific needs.
