The European Space Agency (ESA) has published an article about the BioSTEP project, in which RISE PFI and CIRiS have mapped biological residual resources relevant to future space missions and investigated how these resources could potentially be converted into nanocellulose and biocomposites.
The article highlights how the circular use of resources can contribute to greater self-sufficiency during long-duration human space missions and showcases RISE PFI’s expertise in nanocellulose and biocomposite technologies.
Senior Research Scientist Gary Chinga Carrasco from RISE PFI is among the researchers interviewed for the article.
