In a project funded by Europan Space Agency \u2013 ESA<em><sup>1)<\/sup><\/em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rise-pfi.no\/en\/focus-areas\/biopolymers-and-biocomposites\/biostep\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">(The BioSTEP project)<\/a>\u00a0 RISE PFI contributed to explore how plant waste and used packaging from space missions could be turned into useful materials like nanocellulose and biocomposites. Plant-based resources could help provide food, produce oxygen, and even create new materials in space.
