The REDYSIGN consortium met in Valladolid in Spain in October 2025 to mark the halfway point of their project developing recyclable, bio-based, and smart fibre-based packaging (FBP) for fresh meat.
Key achievements include:
- Energy-efficient pulp production
- Eco-designed packaging (including wet- and dry-forming technologies)
- Smart spoilage and cold chain sensors
- Advanced sorting technology for better recycling.
The visit to PackBenefit’s new plant highlighted industrial-scale progress and set the stage for the next project phase: demonstrating circular FBP solutions.
