Textiles from households must be recycled by 1 January 2025

According to the EU framework directive for waste, textiles from households must be recycled by 1 January 2025. In Norway, 45% of textiles from households are collected, and almost all of this is exported to other countries. The remaining textiles are burned. There is a need for a better system that includes the collection, sorting and recycling of textile waste and that contributes to a circular economy. In this project, we will map textile collection and sorting opportunities in Central Norway, and evaluate recycling opportunities and new uses for the collected textiles.
