To facilitate sustainable growth in «the Nordic Green Belt region»

The aim of the Biorefinery Mid-Scandinavia project is to facilitate sustainable growth in «the Nordic Green Belt region» by strengthening the cooperation between research and businesses in mid-Sweden and mid-Norway in the biorefinery area.

In the project, Processum Biorefinery Initiative AB (Örnskiöldsvik, Sweden) and Paper and Fibre Research Institute, PFI (Trondheim, Norway), aim to create sustainable development in the Nordic Green Belt region through enhanced cooperation between Norwegian and Swedish research centers and industries in the biorefinery area.

This will be made possible through access to each other’s pilots, experiences and networks and on the basis of these resources perform new, joint innovation projects.

Through active participation of regional industries, businesses in Mid-Sweden (Jämtland, Västernorrland) and Mid-Norway (Sør-Trøndelag, Nord-Trøndelag) will take part in the developments that are clustered around the Örnsköldsvik and Trondheim area. The cooperation aims to strengthen the region’s attractiveness and competitiveness through cross-border cooperation in the three priority areas: economic growth, an attractive living environment and technical support.
