In-depth chemical characterisation of biomass
Chemical characterisation of biomass and bio-based materials requires knowledge about the material itself and which technique to use for analysing a given compound. RISE PFI has through our various research projects built a broad experience about characterisation of a wide range of biomasses. Our selection of state-of-the art instruments combined with a series of well-established characterisation techniques enables us to characterise the composition of well-known and emerging biomasses.
Selected equipment
- Gas Chromatography (GC)
- High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).
- Pyrolysis GC-MS (with µ-Tandem reactor)
- Size Exclusion Chromatography, semi preparative (SEC)
- UV-Visible Spectroscopy (UV-VIS)
- Dr. Lange photometer
- Oxygen permeation measurement system (OX-TRAN)
- Particle charge detector (Mütek PCD 02)
- Simultaneous thermal analyzer (STA – TGA/DSC)
- Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)
