Nanofibril production using plasma

Nanocelluloses are produced in energy demanding processes, often in combination with biological (enzymatic) or chemical pretreatments. In the NanoPlasma project, the goal is to produce nanocelluloses using wet plasma at low specific energy consumption. A plasma reactor will be designed and built to be able to fibrillate wood fibres by a combination of shock waves, UV-light and Fenton chemistry. The NanoPlasma project will combine knowledge from plasma physics and chemical engineering to obtain effective production of nanocelluloses.
