NORCELlab – Infrastructure at RISE PFI in Trondheim

“The Norwegian Cellulose Laboratory” is a national infrastructure dedicated to cellulose research and development, hosted by RISE PFI and funded by the Research Council of Norway.

NORCELlab is available both to national and international stakeholders (universities, institutes and industries), providing its services to companies on commercial contract basis as well as to the benefit of research and development projects and education.

RISE PFI now offers recyclability analysis based on updated 4evergreen protocols

Earlier this year, 4evergreen published updated protocols for assessing the recyclability of paper and board packaging, aiming to harmonize standards across the EU. This initiative aligns with the newly published Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) from February, which sets an ambitious target of 90% recycling rate by 2030.

RISE PFI is investing in an advanced pilot coater

RISE PFI is investing in an advanced, custom-made pilot coater designed for printing, coating, and laminating various flexible materials, including paper, films, and metallic foils.

RISE PFI leads a new project on value creation from agrifood side streams

The new project is entitled “Value creation from agrifood side streams within the circular bioeconomy” (AgriFood). The ambition of the AgriFood project is to valorize agrifood side streams to high value-added and sustainable products. Sustainable protein and biogenic poly-/oligomers production requires efficient use of available resources, such as agrifood side-streams (spent grain, agricultural harvest residues and side streams from potato industry).

RISE PFI offers recyclability analysis

RISE PFI is the first lab in Norway to offer the analysis for evaluation of the recyclability of paper and board products. The analysis follows the procedure for the harmonized recyclability analysis presented by CEPI (Confederation of European Paper Industries), which is based on the industrial processes where recycled products are recovered at a paper or board manufacturer. The purpose of the analysis is to assess the most important parameters for recyclability.
