The REDYSIGN project explores how to make fresh-meat packaging both high-performing and sustainable. Meat that must be stored for long periods requires packaging with strong oxygen and moisture barriers, at the same time environmental goals demand plastic-free and recyclable solutions. The REDYSIGN project addresses this challenge by creating wood-based barrier coatings, which are applied to trays made of mechanical pulp, and to offer a circular, sustainable alternative to conventional plastic packaging.
