RISE PFISustainabilityAffordable and clean energy
UN Sustainability Goal 7:Affordable and clean energy

We develop new processes for production of biofuels from renewable forest-based raw materials, supporting UN sustainability subgoal 7.2:

UNs subgoal 7.2: “By 2030, increase substantially the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix”.

UNs subgoal 7.2

Examples of projects at RISE PFI supporting UN sustainability subgoal 7.2 are given below:

BioSinter

Biobased manganese ore sintering process

NorBioLab

The Norwegian Biorefinery Laboratory

Arbafeed

Production of ArbaCore pellets and feed protein from wood (ArbaFeed)

Bio4fuels

Norwegian Centre for Sustainable Bio-based Fuels and Energy

Pyrogas

Coproduction of biocarbon reductant material and biogas transportation fuel

We continuously work on developing more energy-efficient processes, e.g. to achieve reduced energy consumption in energy-intensive pulp and paper processes, supporting UN sustainability subgoal 7.3:

UN subgoal 7.3: “By 2030, double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency”.

UNs subgoal 7.3

Examples of projects at RISE PFI supporting UN sustainability subgoal 7.3 are given below:

SoftSens

New technology for improved control of the production of mechanical pulp from wood chips

NanoPlasma

Nanofibril production using plasma
